    Mormon, a perfectly positioned witness

Anyone writing a history will have a certain amount of bias, but I was thinking about the unique position Mormon was in as he compiled the record of his people.

He was one of the very last survivors of his civilization, he witnesses their downfall and knew exactly why it happened.

Mormon had no reason to conceal the flaws of his people. There wasn’t any living audience for him to consider, the entire record was created for people that wouldn’t be born until centuries later.

I think that is what makes Mormon’s book so unique. He is able to highlight the glory and goodness from his people’s history and lay bare their faults without reservation.

Mormon was well-positioned to be a perfect witness for a fallen civilization and to do what he did.

The genius and design of God is apparent even when humanities failures are at their extremes.

That’s something important to remember, especially in our present situations.

Excellent read on the prophet Mormon. What you say in this article speaks volumes of the great calling the Lord gave to Mormon…and what a tremendous task to be given! One cannot begin to even let our minds wander off on what a challenge it would’ve been had WE been the chosen one to write this sacred record. Thank you for sharing such amazing insight about this beloved prophet. 🙏🏻
