In the September 2012 edition of the Latter-day Saint publication The Ensign, David Brent Marsh wrote:
God foresaw our day and called the Prophet Joseph Smith to bring forth the Book of Mormon to help us. Of the 239 chapters in the Book of Mormon, 174 (73 percent) deal with war, terrorism, murder, political conspiracies, secret combinations, threats, family collusions, and other hostilities. [source]
Consider Ezra Taft Benson’s words:
The record of the Nephite history just prior to the Savior’s visit reveals many parallels to our own day as we anticipate the Savior’s second coming” (in Conference Report, Apr. 1987, 3; or Ensign, May 1987, 4)
Consider how each of these realities applies today:
- War
- Terrorism
- Murder
- Political conspiracies
- Secret combinations
- Threats
- Family collusions
What were Mormon and Moroni trying to tell us?
The slow and steady erosion of the principles of liberty began long before any of the candidates currently running for office were born. Study central banking, study Nathan Rothschild and Waterloo in 1815, study 1919, study successful and unsuccessful presidential assassinations in our nation’s history, study FDR in 1933, study Bretton Woods, study Nixon and August 15, 1971, study fractional reserve banking and you will be able to see a little clearer who is really in control of the world today.
It goes back to the beginning:
Wherefore Lamech, being angry, slew him, not like unto Cain, his brother Abel, for the sake of getting gain, but he slew him for the oath’s sake. – Moses 5:50
It destroyed the Nephites and Jaredites:
For behold, the Lord had blessed them so long with the riches of the world that they had not been stirred up to anger, to wars, nor to bloodshed; therefore they began to set their hearts upon their riches; yea, they began to seek to get gain that they might be lifted up one above another; therefore they began to commit secret murders, and to rob and to plunder, that they might get gain. – Helaman 6:17
It has toppled recent empires:
When a government is dependent upon bankers for money, they and not the leaders of the government control the situation, since the hand that gives is above the hand that takes… Money has no motherland; financiers are without patriotism and without decency; their sole object is gain. — Napoleon Bonaparte
The impact is global:
A secret combination that seeks to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries is increasing its evil influence and control over America and the entire world.” (Ezra Taft Benson, I Testify, Conference, October 1988).
It is here now and it is in control:
“Satan has control now. No matter where you look, he is in control, even in our own land. He is guiding the governments as far as the Lord will permit him. That is why there is so much strife, turmoil, and confusion all over the earth. One master mind is governing the nations. It is not the president of the United States; it is not Hitler; it is not Mussolini; it is not the king or government of England or any other land; it is Satan himself.” (Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 3, pp. 314-315)
The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government of the U.S. since the days of Andrew Jackson. – Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Are we ignorant of it?
All the perplexities, confusion and distress in America arise, not from defects in their Constitution or Confederation, not from want of honor or virtue, so much as from the downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit and circulation. – John Adams
It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning. – Henry Ford
The Gadianton Robbers from the Book of Mormon are loose among us. The King-men, and women, are running our government. And, worst of all, we are blindly electing them, or appointing them so they can continue to destroy the things we cherish most. (John Widtsoe, General Conference, April 1944)
The gain-seekers in their own words
Moroni recored that the Book of Mormon “shall come in a day when the blood of saints shall cry unto the Lord, because of secret combinations and the works of darkness” (Mormon 8:27). He could not have been clearer about what is among us now in our day:
And now I, Moroni, do not write the manner of their oaths and combinations, for it hath been made known unto me that they are had among all people…And they have caused the destruction of this people of whom I am now speaking, and also the destruction of the people of Nephi. And whatsoever nation shall uphold such secret combinations, to get power and gain, until they shall spread over the nation, behold, they shall be destroyed;…suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you, which are built up to get power and gain…the Lord commandeth you, when ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation, because of this secret combination which shall be among you…whoso buildeth it up seeketh to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil… (Ether 8:20-25)
Take that last line “for it is built up by the devil” and read again President Joseph Fielding Smith’s words:
“Satan has control now. No matter where you look, he is in control, even in our own land. He is guiding the governments as far as the Lord will permit him. That is why there is so much strife, turmoil, and confusion all over the earth. One master mind is governing the nations. It is not the president of the United States; it is not Hitler; it is not Mussolini; it is not the king or government of England or any other land; it is Satan himself.” (Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 3, pp. 314-315)
So who is running this combination and how are they “getting power and gain”? Look no further than the global central banking system. In the United States we have the the “Federal Reserve System” which is a private bank, let me repeat – a PRIVATE bank, it is not a government institution. It has also never been audited which means that has operated in a perpetual secret combination since its inception. How will a solution come from Republicans or Democrats when they have historically facilitated these secret combinations of banking plunder?
Let’s take a short stroll down the rabbit hole and begin with a simple statement from Mayer Rothschild:
“Give me control of a nation’s money and I care not who makes it’s laws.”
Professor Carroll Quigley of Georgetown University wrote in Tragedy and Hope:
“The powers of financial capitalism had another far reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements, arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences. The apex of the system was the Bank for International Settlements in Basle, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the worlds’ central banks which were themselves private corporations. The growth of financial capitalism made possible a centralization of world economic control and use of this power for the direct benefit of financiers and the indirect injury of all other economic groups.” (Tragedy and Hope: A History of The World in Our Time, Macmillan Company, 1966)
Council on Foreign Relations member James Warburg once said:
“We shall have world government whether or not you like it, by conquest or consent.” (statement to The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on February 17th, 1950)
Writing of his father-in-law, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Curtis Dall stated:
“For a long time I felt that FDR had developed many thoughts and ideas that were his own to benefit this country, the United States. But, he didn’t. Most of his thoughts, his political ammunition, as it were, were carefully manufactured for him in advanced by the Council on Foreign Relations-One World Money group. Brilliantly, with great gusto, like a fine piece of artillery, he exploded that prepared “ammunition” in the middle of an unsuspecting target, the American people, and thus paid off and returned his internationalist political support.
The UN is but a long-range, international banking apparatus clearly set up for financial and economic profit by a small group of powerful One-World revolutionaries, hungry for profit and power. The depression was the calculated ‘shearing’ of the public by the World Money powers, triggered by the planned sudden shortage of supply of call money in the New York money market…The One World Government leaders and their ever close bankers have now acquired full control of the money and credit machinery of the U.S. via the creation of the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank.” (Curtis Dall, My Exploited Father-in-Law)
FDR himself once wrote:
“The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the larger centers has owned the Government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson.” (A letter written by FDR to Colonel House, November 21st, 1933)
In an address to the Trilateral Commission, founding member David Rockerfeller said:
“We are grateful to The Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the work is now much more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national autodetermination practiced in past centuries.” (in an address to a meeting of The Trilateral Commission, in June, 1991)
Strobe Talbot, President Clinton’s Deputy Secretary of State told Time Magazine:
“In the next century, nations as we know it will be obsolete; all states will recognize a single, global authority. National sovereignty wasn’t such a great idea after all.” (Time, July 20th, 1992)
Woodrow Wilson once wrote:
“Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men’s views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the Field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.” (Woodrow Wilson, The New Freedom, 1913)
This is only a very minuscule sampling of what is out there. This is a fact and we had better awaken to it and learn about it instead of ignoring it. Banks make money by loaning money and collecting the interest. The privately-owned bank known as the Federal Reserve prints money out of thin air, loans it to the United States, and charges interest on those loans. The banks have set up groups like the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, etc. that create and implement policies in nations by being inserted into administrations through the Democrat and Republican parties.
Every time the government borrows money from the private Federal Reserve Bank, the bank makes more money and gets more gain. What policies require the government to borrow more money? Take, for instance, a massive military-industrial complex spread over the world, wars, bailouts of private industry, anything subsidized by the government, welfare policies, etc, etc, etc. As long as the banks are in control and administrations are staffed by their people, you will see more of these policies no matter what color party is in “power”; just look at history.
Awakening
So how do we “awake,” and what do we do when we are “awaken”? We’re told to vote, but for who? Why is it that our choices always seem to be between candidates put up by the same two powerful organizations? They seek to defend their monopoly by condemning any candidate outside their control. They tell you that your vote is wasted if you do not choose red or blue; that you don’t really have any other choice. Shame on us for believing them and voting out of fear instead of on sound principle.
Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost. – John Quincy Adams
I also agree with Hyrum Smith:
Men of false principles have preyed upon us like wolves upon helpless lambs…We want a President of the U.S., not a party President, but a President of the whole people; for a party President disfranchises the opposite party. Have a President who will maintain every man in his rights.” (Hyrum Smith, Source: History of the Church, Vol.6, Ch.15, p.323)
No man is an island and neither is a major-party political candidate; ponder the implications. What about the efficacy of voting though? We like to think that we still live in a free country, a Republic, but do we? If the system is rigged from the get-go, then what good is a vote?
If you are a Latter-day Saint you are probably familiar with a phrase that goes something like “the Constitution will one day hang by a thread”. Few people I talk to are aware that Ezra Taft Benson once identified what this final thread would be.
“Our great Constitution has been beaten and torn until now it hangs by a single thread, and that thread is our franchise to vote.” (Ezra Taft Benson, 1976, Freeman Institute, Provo, Utah)
Has the final thread snapped? You may certainly walk down to a voting booth and cast your ballot freely but what is the franchise or right to vote worth when the influence of that vote is effectually nullified? Moroni warned that we should not “suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you, which are built up to get power and gain—and the work, yea, even the work of destruction come upon you, yea, even the sword of the justice of the Eternal God shall fall upon you, to your overthrow and destruction if ye shall suffer these things to be“ (Ether 8:23).
Are these combinations now above us? Have we allowed these things to be? What are the consequences for allowing this state of affairs to exist and persist in our nation and what do we do about it now?

Great article, Steve! Now we need to get all the membership of the Church to read this, and ACT.
Most members are asleep, lulled into complacency even by many of our LDS leaders (2 Nephi 28). Most LDS (because of pleasing teachings) don’t understand the real meaning of the Word of Wisdom, for heavens sake (D&C 89:4). How can we expect the saints, or leaders, to see further than that, which they cannot and will not see, this clearly visible “evils and designs that will and do exist in the hearts of conspiring men (conspiracy seems to be the ultimate LDS four-letter word nowadays) in the last days” taking over our whole food AND medicine system today, declaring God’ whole foods and herbs to be dangerous and poison (AMA/FDA/APA – our new idol/Trinity of safety), to save us, no less, by force. But, of course.
How can saints even see or understand that the feminist anti-domestic violence agenda (praised by all media and by most religious leaders) is a socialist wolf in sheep’s clothing destroying constitution, family and nation, in the name of saving them, by the expediency of going around the Constitution?
As massive plunderous and devastating to our nation as only these two things are, they are but the tip of the iceberg. If the average LDS cannot see these two things staring at us every day, or is offended at calling modern medicine, modern food and our literally communist domestic violence industry for the rampant evils they are, and commit, what hope is there for a true awakening to the rest of our awful situation? Am I offensive enough yet, anyone?
So many LDS do not have eyes to see or ears to hear, and are lulled into seeing good as evil and evil as good, as Isaiah prophesied. Even many of the humble followers of Christ are sorely mislead, as 2nd Nephi warned.
This is a fabulous collection of quotes! Takes me back to my John Birch days (even though it’s not politically correct to say that – they gathered some great info). Thanks for putting this together. I have felt positively depressed all day, despite my attempts to be positive for others, in a way I haven’t felt in a very long time about politics. I’m so sick of people around me telling me that I should be gracious and get over it, the election is over. It’s over for people who don’t really care. I’m still sad for the good people of our country who have been duped. I’m still mourning, and it will take awhile to feel better, even if I don’t plaster my sadness everywhere. Interestingly enough, this morning I read about Thomas Marsh, and I wept for what a difficult situation he must have been in (Section 27 or so). The Lord is aware of the problems in his family, and guides him to handle them. They spelled his eventual downfall. We must be one in our families and hold our nation accountable for laws that infringe on families because that is where it all begins, both goodness and destruction. Thanks again. I’ll be sure to bookmark this.
Thanks, Bonnie. I put all of this together a few weeks ago but was very hesitant to publish it. After talking with my father this morning I decided to put it out there because we were talking about how people only really see the surface which is not where the problem really lies.
Even Latter-day Saints get caught up in the fabricated truth. I wonder how many members of the church have read “None Dare Call it Conspiracy” that President Benson asked us to read during General Conference.
This isn’t a conspiracy involving aliens, ufos or lizard people, it is simple greed. If you understand how a bank makes money and then apply that principle to a national and world level, then know the individuals who put all of these pieces into place and read about their own admissions as to why they did it, it explains quite a bit!
I was actually pleased to see Obama reelected, not because I support the direction of his administration, but because people will be more awake than if we just changed the puppet show and watched them blame the previous administration for the next four years.
This is a chance to really examine the forces plundering this nation and realize how deeply entrenched that power is in virtually every facet of our federal government.
I don’t blame you for being hesitant. I came across this when I was in my very early twenties in college (found None Care Call It Conspiracy in the institute library and was intrigued by the endorsement by Ezra Taft Benson) and ever since I’ve been called a conspiracy theorist by friends and family. It’s a “ready when they’re ready” sort of group of ideas. Public education has gone a great distance in feeding us a pablum about our system that makes it very hard for people to accept what’s going on around them. And, many people who are involved in CFR, AI, and TLC are ignorant of the ultimate agendas of those organizations. Add to that my research about the DOD’s involvement in the development of the AIDS virus and I have learned to open my mouth judiciously.
I am coming around to your view of the election very quickly. I read an analysis that said that this was the best thing that could have happened to Romney and the Church, and it makes salient points. And I think people are growing ready to withdraw from this public train a bit. It’s an important opportunity for people to actually make choices, enticed by more clarity in the good and evil before them. It will make good people better, and people in the middle choose.
I draw a line between conspiracy theories and conspiracy facts and choose to focus my attention on the fact side. I’m always interested when individuals acknowledge historical conspiracies because they watch a TV program about them but completely disbelieve that anything of that nature is going on today when conspiracy and collusion are as comment to history as mankind itself.
Cain was the first conspirator and most certainly not the last. It is the natural state of man to seek to overthrow freedom and destroy liberty when trusted with the power of the state. To deny this is to be ignorant of reality.
Most people prefer to live in blissful ignorance because they don’t know how to process something so vast and terrible. Even though we live in the LAST DAYS where we live and expect to see some of the worst that has been prophesied. You don’t even need a prophet to tell you that as long as governments exist there will always be conspirators seeking to use their trusted authority to seek to get gain and power.
Most people who throw around the term “conspiracy theorist” have no idea about the subjects that they so quickly dismiss; they’d rather watch TV than read or ponder. Facts beat ignorance every time.
I am studying to take my real estate exam and today was going over the laws regarding conspiracy. Conspiracy to commit fraud carries the same legal penalties as committing fraud (a fact that I’m going to continue to ponder metaphorically). We freely acknowledge conspiracy within our law, as any knowing conflict of interest quite readily qualifies, and is quite readily committed in our day. But the word gives us the shivers. Isn’t that weird. But you are right. Facts always triumph over ignorance, and they constitute a responsibility, so that agency can truly be exercised.
That’s a great point to bring up concerning the equality of intent vs actual commission of a crime. I hate to make the comparison, but with the level of ignorance that we see concerning the facts in today’s world, is it really that difficult to imagine how 1/3 of the host of Heaven followed Lucifer?
No, unfortunately not. Human nature is, apparently, eternal – until it learns discipline.
