Big Jacob 2:30 Update

This post is an announcement that I have made significant updates to the post “A Proposed Reinterpretation of Jacob 2:30,” which I published here in 2017. While I was making these last updates, I took some time to make improvements to the entire essay as a whole, paragraph by paragraph. This took a couple of months of off-and-on work.

I invested additional effort in this project due to It being the second-most frequented post on oneClimbs and its theological implications.

The catalyst for this last series of updates came as a result of a rebuttal to a few of my points by Jeff Lindsay who has been online discussing Latter-day Saint theology perhaps as long as there has been an Internet.

I respect Jeff and all the great work he has done and continues to do.

As I took the time to revisit some of my points, I realized that they could be improved and corrected where necessary. During this process, I realized that I had some new information that could be added and that some sections could be moved around to improve the narrative.

I also realized that some of the sections could probably be written with more clarity so I re-examined every paragraph one by one and rewrote a great deal of them. None of the core ideas have changed, but there are some significant additions.

There’s a new section that uses ChatGPT to analyze the entire sermon of Jacob to provide an unbiased look at the verse in question. I have also added an “Updated” section at the head of the post that will show the date of the latest update with any details at the end of the post.

These aren’t the first updates to this information, and I’m sure they won’t be the last.

I created oneClimbs as a place to organize my thoughts and share my observations with anyone who might find the information useful. Though I may speak passionately or convincingly in some of this content, PLEASE don't simply take my word alone on anything. Always seek the truth of all things through study and prayer in the name of Jesus Christ.

    Steve,
Love your searching and seeking heart! I enjoyed the updates to Jacob 2:30. Thanks for investing the time and sharing your added insights. A guy started a website for me called “seekthesavior.com.” It will eventually contain everything from my files of learning and teaching through the years. Much simpler ideas and topics than your breadth and depth, but focused completely on drawing closer to Christ and bring His power into our lives. I would love to visit with you about some of the great stuff that you are doing. Take care brother! Brother King

One understands oneself to be addressed [by God] through events … A person replies through the speech of his life; he answers with his actions. Events in daily life can be interpreted as a dialogue with God. – Ian Barbour
