“In this Church, you don’t have to believe anything that isn’t true.”

I love this video, I came across it the other day and it is awesome on so many levels. It was put up on YouTube by Interpreter and if you give it a chance, you’ll hear some really great perspective from some prominent LDS scientists of the day offering some counsel that just as fresh today as it was then.

Accompanying the serious dialogue are a few dramatizations that look like they were right out of an episode of “Leave it to Beaver” which makes the whole thing that much better. I appreciate the fact that this film from around 60 years ago makes more sense than most of what I hear out there today.

    What a Gem! We are so gonna watch this for Family Home Evening next week. If my wife agrees that is, (always check with the wife).

    I like how Henry Eyring described the “6 different worlds.” Even though he didn’t directly say it, I had the thought, “What a remarkable thing it is to think of the concept of spirituality as another branch of science.” It’s the highest branch to be sure, but in another way, it’s also an “equal” branch. Everything is important – the hows and the whys. Everything fits together. We need to understand things from EVERY world. I’ve always thought this way.

    And the worlds work together too. Just as knowing chemistry will aid in the knowledge of biology, knowing physics will aid in our spiritual endeavors and vice versa. Most importantly, just like observing the tendencies of cells and molecules, the Spirit, the Great Teacher will aid us in our discovery of life around us. The same rules, commandments, doctrines, and principles apply. God’s universe operates the same regardless if you are viewing it from the atomic level or the cosmic level.

    In the same sense the Gospel as a whole and especially the things presented to us in the Temple also operate in each of the “worlds” that Brother Eyring mentioned. I would encourage the readers of your blog to explore the teachings of the Temple on the atomic, molecular, cellular, physical, cosmic, and spiritual levels. Hidden wisdom is to be found in the deep contemplation of ALL truth.
